A Glimpse into the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at KRCE

Welcome to the world of Computer Science and Engineering at KRCE. The department of CSE at K. Ramakrishnan College of Engineering was inaugurated in the year 2008 with an initial intake of 60 students. Subsequently, the intake was expanded to 120 students in 2013. Additionally, a postgraduate course was introduced in 2013 with an initial intake of 24 students.

Faculty Profile

The department of Computer Science and Engineering boasts a team of 32 faculty members, including 5 with completed Ph.D. qualifications and 9 currently pursuing Ph.D. degrees. The faculty includes individuals trained by reputable companies such as WIPRO, Google Cloud, Dell EMC2, Infosys, and Virtusa. Further, these trained faculty members actively participate in preparing students for placement opportunities.

The department has fostered collaborations with industry leaders such as WIPRO, Google Cloud, Dell EMC2, Infosys, and Virtusa. Also, this collaboration involves training sessions conducted by the faculty to enhance students’ skills and prepare them for successful placements.

Research and Development at Computer Science and Engineering

The CSE department focuses its research activities on core domains such as Cloud Computing, Internet of Things, Image Processing, Blockchain Technologies, Cryptography and Network Security, Software Testing, Machine Learning, and Edge Computing. Furthermore, we actively promote research interests among students through Rand D projects leading to publications or patents.

Moreover, the department organizes workshops, industry seminars, and conferences to enhance students’ knowledge in these cutting-edge fields. Additionally, our R and D team actively pursues funds from various sources, including collaborations with institutions like IIT Bombay.

• Also, facilitated Wipro PRP (Project Readiness Program) training sessions for students, enriching their Project-Based Learning (PBL) experiences.
• In addition, conducted a certification program on “AWS Cloud Practitioner” designed to educate participants on the fundamental offerings of the Amazon AWS Cloud and foster understanding of its core functionalities.
• Moreover, led a training initiative, “Tech4All” supported by the CSR arm of the Cognizant Foundation. Also, pioneered the establishment of a Centre for Women Empowerment (CWE), dedicated to equipping female students with in-demand industry skills in Microsoft Power BI.
