In the consistently progressing landscape of technology, the demand for skilled professionals in B.E. CSE – Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning has observed an unparalleled surge.

B.E-CSE (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning)

Generally, recognizing the transformative potential of these fields, K. Ramakrishnan College of Engineering (KRCE) launched its four-year undergraduate program in B.E-CSE (AIML) in the academic year 2021-22.

Multifaceted Approach to Skill Development

This aims to teach students how to build applications in real-time, understand computer vision, use generative-adversarial networks (GANs), explore distributed parallel computing using GPUs, and effectively deploy deep learning models on the cloud.

Essence of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence and machine learning

At its core, Artificial Intelligence is a branch of computer science dedicated to crafting intelligent machines with human-like behaviour. Further, our program at KRCE emphasizes the creation of smart machines capable of decision-making processes, by analysing enterprise data.

In fact, mimicking the way humans synthesize information, AI processes vast amounts of data before making informed decisions.

The Power of Machine Learning

Machine Learning, a subset of Artificial Intelligence (AI), enables computers to learn independently without explicit programming. Moreover, the curriculum at KRCE teaches students to construct self-learning computer systems using a mix of algorithms and statistical models.

Further, the transformative impact of AI on current society makes it an exciting time to participate in this revolutionary shift. Also, AI is often hailed as the skill of the century and the ability to build systems that can adapt and grow on their own positions is highly sought after in today’s job market.

Recognition from AICTE and MHRD

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) recognizing the dynamic nature of the industry, have identified B.E-CSE (AIML), in response to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, we are focusing on growing areas to fulfill its demands.

The Industrial Revolution

Every company is now eyeing the integration of AI into their operations, making the study of B.E-CSE (AIML) at KRCE a gateway to abundant opportunities. Thus, graduates are poised to shape cutting-edge technologies in diverse sectors, contributing to advancements in computer protection, image recognition, pharmaceuticals, face recognition and beyond.

State-of-the-Art Infrastructure

KRCE’s Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning provides students with a transformative learning environment, equipped with cutting-edge infrastructure.

  • Well-maintained laboratories offering modern computing environments.
  • Two computer labs with over 100 systems, high-speed internet (WIFI), and access to industry-related software to enhance the learning experience.
  • Continuous updates and maintenance protocols ensure facilities remain at the forefront of technological advancements.

Integrating Open Learning and E-Learning Platforms

Moreover, the department stays ahead of the curve by integrating platforms like Swayam, NPTEL, Coursera, and edX into its curriculum. This ensures exposure to industry-related software.

In addition, we create a conducive working atmosphere for students to engage in their projects, practical assignments, and coursework, ensuring regular updates and upkeep.

Academic Milestones

The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at KRCE boasts significant academic achievements as follows:

  • Made alliances through four Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), offering students valuable opportunities for industry exposure.
  • Presently, 33 students are immersed in internship programs, acquiring practical, hands-on experience in real-world applications.
  • In addition, students specializing in AI&DS and AI&ML have achieved more than 450 online certifications, underscoring their dedication to continuous learning and skill refinement.

Engagement in extracurriculars

The students are also highly engaged in diverse extracurricular activities, showcasing their versatility.

These activities include events such as Knowledge with Tech, Blow with Rhythm, Dumb Chardes, TALENTIA’2022, Men’s Days, Women’s Day, Paper Presentation, and Cricket.

Their remarkable achievements include securing the First Runner-up position in Talentia’22, emerging as Overall winners in Talentia’23 and FEMFEST’23. In fact, a noteworthy milestone is the successful completion of NPTEL courses by 175 students.

Furthermore, three teams reached the Grand Finale of the Smart India Hackathon. In 2023, two students won a cash prize of Rs.25,000 in a make-a-thon. The students also received the Best Project Award in Paper Presentation, showcasing their active participation in this domain.

Additionally, our students show competence in sports, achieving recognition and prizes in Football, Badminton, and Athletics.
