About Department
B.E-CSE(Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning) is a four-year full-time undergraduate programme started in the academic year 2021–22, equipping students with the skills to create real (hyphen needed) time applications of computer vision, generative-adversarial networks (GANs), distributed parallel computing with GPUs, and deployment of deep learning models on the cloud.
Artificial Intelligence, or AI, is a branch of computer science that emphasizes the creation of intelligent machines that behave like humans. The method of creating smart machines, also known as intelligent machines, is designed to assist in the decision-making process, which is analyzed in detail using data available within an enterprise. It works in the same manner as humans do when synthesizing data and making reasonable decisions. However, in this situation, the decision is made after reviewing a large amount of data. Machine Learning is a part of artificial intelligence that allows computers to learn and develop on their own without being directly programmed. Machine Learning programmes educate students on how to build self-learning computer systems by combining algorithms and statistical models. Since AI is completely changing the face of society, it is exciting to be a part of this revolutionary transition. Many people consider AI to be the skill of the century since its applications are endless.
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning is one of the emerging areas identified by AICTE and MHRD which can meet the upcoming requirements of the Industrial Revolution. Engineering Graduates will be able to:
- PO1: Engineering knowledge: Apply knowledge of mathematics, natural science, computing, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization as specified in WK1 to WK4 respectively to develop to the solution of complex engineering problems.
- PO2: Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions with consideration for sustainable development. (WK1 to WK4)
- PO3: Design/Development of Solutions: Design creative solutions for complex engineering problems and design/develop systems/components/processes to meet identified needs with consideration for the public health and safety, whole-life cost, net zero carbon, culture, society and environment as required. (WK5)
- PO4: Conduct Investigations of Complex Problems: Conduct investigations of complex engineering problems using research-based knowledge including design of experiments, modelling, analysis & interpretation of data to provide valid conclusions. (WK8).
- PO5: Engineering Tool Usage: Create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources and modern engineering & IT tools, including prediction and modelling recognizing their limitations to solve complex engineering problems. (WK2 and WK6)
- PO6: The Engineer and The World: Analyze and evaluate societal and environmental aspects while solving complex engineering problems for its impact on sustainability with reference to economy, health, safety, legal framework, culture and environment. (WK1, WK5, and WK7).

- Our students, Sachin Aariya D M, Denis Remijeus A, Mukil Subramani S G, Bhuvaneshwaran S G, and Dharnish S from the II Year AIML, won the 1st prize, which included a cash prize of ₹1,000 in a workshop as part of a value-added course.
- Our student, Afsheen M from the II Year AIML, represented the Tamil Nadu Senior Women Team (Above 17) and secured a bronze medal in the 62nd National Roller-Skating Championship 2024, organized by the Roller-Skating Federation of India – India Skate, held from 5th–15th December at VOC Park, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
- Our student, Afsheen M from the II Year AIML, represented the Senior Women Team (Above 17) and secured a silver medal in the 2nd India Skate Games 2024, organized by the Roller-Skating Federation of India – India Skate, held from 7th–11th August at VOC Park, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, in the Roller Hockey discipline.
- Our student, Afsheen M from the II Year AIML, secured a silver medal representing the Senior Women Team (Above 17) in the 34th Tamil Nadu Roller Skating Championship 2024, organized by the Tamil Nadu Roller Skating Association, held from 4th–11th November at VOC Park, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, in the Roller Hockey discipline.

Guest Lecture
The Departments of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AI&DS) and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML) jointly organized a Guest Lecture on 14th August 2025, aimed at enhancing students' knowledge of emerging trends in Artificial Intelligence. The session was delivered by Mr. V. Vairavan, Professor, MSOE University, USA and Mr. S. Nargunam, Founder and Managing Director, Excel Die Castings, Thirumudivakkam, Chennai, who shared valuable insights on "Tools and Skills to Harness AI: A No-Code Approach" and "How to Become a Successful Entrepreneur", highlighting real-world applications, challenges, and future opportunities in the field.
Workshop on Ideas to Invention
The AI&DS department organized a successful "Workshop on ICT Training for School Teachers" on August 5, 2024. The workshop featured a keynote address by a distinguished guest from DIET, Trichy, who inspired participants with insights into innovation. The event was expertly coordinated by Dr. B. Kiran Bala, HoD-AI&DS/AIML, Mrs. V. Sankari, Assistant Professor and AHoD-AI&DS and Ms. R. Dhaaraani, AHoD-AI&DS.
Hands-On Session on Artificial Intelligence
A hands-on session on Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools was successfully conducted by the Departments of AI & DS and AIML, coordinated by Ms. R. Dhaaraani and Mr. M. K. Mohamed Faizal, for the second and third-year students of National College, Trichy. The event aimed to provide practical exposure to cutting-edge AI tools and techniques, enhancing the students' technical proficiency and fostering a deeper understanding of AI applications.
Workshop on Entrepreneurship and Innovation
An Entrepreneurship and Innovation workshop was successfully conducted by the Institution's Innovation Council and Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science and Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning on 23.01.25 and coordinated by Ms. R. Dhaaraani and Mr. M. Ponnivalavan, coordinators of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science – Institution's Innovation Council. This program aimed to provide a career opportunities and guidance for the students.
