About Department
The Department of IT was established in the Academic year 2020-21 to groom the students for the requirements of IT industry. The department strives to empower the students, to achieve the demanding standards of IT industry, by bringing about a synergistic academic environment wherein cutting edge technologies, industry experts, faculty and students are engaged in a sustained interaction.

Program Outcomes(PO’s)

- Engineering Knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
- Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
- Design/development of Solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet t h e specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
- Conduct Investigations of Complex Problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
- Modern Tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modelling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
- The Engineer and Society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
- Environment and Sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
- Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
- Individual and Team Work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
- Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
- Project Management and Finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.
- Life-long Learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.

Department Highlights

- Dr. S. Manikandan and Mrs. R. Kamalitta received Rs. 3.5 Lakhs from AICTE to conduct ATAL FDP on Machine Learning Techniques and its Real Time Applications from 14.10.24 to 19.10.24
- Dr. S. Manikandan and Mrs. R. Kamalitta received Rs. 35,000 from Anna University to conduct FDTP on App Development from 18.06.24 to 24.06.24
- Dr. S. Manikandan and Mr. M. Santhosh Kumar received Rs. 20,000 from CSIR, New Delhi to conduct a Workshop on Neuromorphic Computing and its Industrial Applications from 13.10.23 to 14.10.23
- Mrs. R. Kamalitta received Rs. 10,500 for the Consultancy work done for Tamilnadu Cooperative Bank Ltd., Trichy in 2023.
- Dr. S. Manikandan received Hardware Research Grant worth of Rs. 2.3 Laksh (Jetson Nano 2 GB Kits) from NVIDIA Singapore Pvt. Ltd. in 2022.

- Dr.S.Manikandan Head and Professor of IT delivered a guest lecture on Role of AI in real life at government Arts College, Tiruchirapalli in 2024.
- Mrs.S.Sathya Priya published a book entitled ”Cryptography and Cyber Security” with ISBN number 978-93-6348-828-1 under Leilani Publications in 2024..
- All the faculty members have completed the NPTEL courses every semester.
- The department has also achieved significant milestones in the field of patent with a publication of 6 Patents in 2024-25.
